The solution pairs Omnicell’s smart automation and intelligent inventory management software with KFM’s end-to-end operational service, and is intended to support improved patient safety, stronger financial sustainability, and enhanced supply chain efficiency across NHS and wider healthcare settings.

As part of the launch, KFM and Omnicell have released a new video illustrating many of the real challenges clinicians often face, such as stockouts, waste, and manual processes, and the expected transformational benefits of a digitally enabled, operationally governed model.

Speaking about the arrangement, Preeya Bailie, KFM Managing Director said: “We believe better inventory management has a direct impact on patient care, operational efficiency and overall system resilience.

By combining Omnicell’s interconnected smart automation with KFM’s end-to-end managed service, we aim to unlock meaningful efficiencies, reduce waste and help ensure clinicians have the right products at the right time.

This collaboration offers a seamless solution that is built to be future-ready and support the NHS’s ongoing transformation, and we are proud to be working with Omnicell to deliver this level of innovation and reliability.”

As part of this offering, Omnicell will provide the digital backbone of the solution, through smart automation and intelligent software that is designed to deliver real-time stock visibility, automated replenishment, accurate product data and seamless interoperability with EPR, P2P and IMU systems. Engineered to be compliant with Scan4Safety and GS1 Standards, the solution is intended to enhance traceability and patient safety, with planned ongoing upgrades to match evolving healthcare needs.

Alongside this, KFM will deliver the full operational service, including catalogue management, procure-to-pay receiving, distribution and clinical stockroom support. The service will be underpinned by robust governance, structured reporting and disciplined supply chain processes, meant to ensure organisations can optimise usage, minimise waste and gain full visibility and control across their supply chain.

Ed Platt, Senior Commercial Director, Omnicell, said: "In our view, getting healthcare supply chains right has never mattered more. Omnicell's automation, analytics, and connected workflows, combined with KFM's operational expertise, is intended to give organisations the real-time visibility and traceability to make better-informed supply chain decisions, faster."

The combined solution was created to directly support clinicians by helping to ensure supplies are available where and when they are needed, meant to reduce time spent managing stock and free up capacity for patient care. It also is intended to support long-term financial sustainability by improving data quality, reducing waste and avoiding unnecessary expenditure.

Roy Clarke, Chief Financial Officer at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and KFM Board Member, said: “This collaboration represents an exciting step forward for KFM and the organisations we support, uniting the strengths of two organisations committed to improving outcomes for the NHS.

By pairing digital intelligence with a managed service, we are focused on reducing waste, making better use of resources, enhancing operational resilience and supporting safe, high-quality care while protecting financial sustainability.”

KFM remains committed to advancing innovation and excellence in healthcare, reinvesting all cost savings and benefits into the NHS to enhance services and deliver meaningful improvements to patient care. The collaboration with Omnicell strengthens this commitment and positions both organisations to support healthcare providers now and into the future.
