Service Overview
Robotic Process Automation

Our RPA team builds, deploys, and manages software robots that emulate human actions interacting with digital systems and software. Just like people, our software robots do things such as understand what’s on a screen, complete the right keystrokes, navigate systems, identify and extract data, and perform a wide range of defined actions. Our software robots do it faster and more consistently than people, having already saved our various Trust and external customers many 1000s of hours undertaking tasks that are best completed by software robots.
We offer an end-to-end service, undertaking business analysis at the start of an engagement to map the ‘as is’ and the ‘to be’, works with the business to understand what the optimal outcomes are, then eventually builds, deploys, tests its robotising technology.
We are already working extensively across finance, HR and pharmacy operations within King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the range of processes automated is ever expanding. RPA truly is a ‘viral’ service, easily understood and solutions create more demand, perpetually.
-
KFM uses Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to solve healthcare challenges in hospitals and is starting to work in other sectors.
-
KFM inherited many legacy systems and processes from King’s College Hospital which required considerable amounts of human effort involving manual, repetitive and boring tasks.
By introducing RPA it added value by streamlining and digitally automating these legacy processes, introducing improved financial controls and efficiency, or adding a commercial advantage.
-
KFM is developing the use of Robotic Process Automation technology or ‘bots’ in many areas of hospital life to improve efficiency and patient care.
KFM works with procurement, finance, HR and clinicians to design and deploy bots. The results are outstanding with a combination of CIP, cost reduction, clinical time release and reducing data errors.
There is significant opportunity within NHS and private healthcare to adopt RPA to automate processes which are repetitive, rules based, high volume and low in variability.

Radiology IT
Our Radiology team support one of Europe’s busiest radiology departments at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The team manages a wide suite of clinical systems, providing planned and reactive diagnostic support to clinical colleagues throughout the Trust. All clinical departments across the Trust rely on an optimally functioning radiology department.
Our teams run a multitude of often large and usually complex systems, sourced from many suppliers. Our team responds to 100’s of calls raised by clinicians every week. These cover fault remedying, implementing upgrades and technology swap outs, providing training and user education – a full information technology support service for hardware, software, networking and projects.
We work extremely closely with the departments, flexing our support to the varying and minute by minute changing demands of the Radiology team.
Technology
Our technology team have a broad remit and responsibilities:
Building comprehensive technology solutions for our customers and customer needs, such as P2P solutions.

Providing optimal hardware solutions: laptops and mobile phones, servers to name a few.
Administering and maintaining the Omnicell system (automated stock management system).
Managing interfaces: creating, monitoring and maintaining all of the interfaces that support our impressive application stack, ensuring that rich data flows in and out of KFM fastly, securely and efficiently.
Future scoping and horizon scanning, keeping abreast of the technology landscaping and ensuring that KFM’s tech-enhanced capability is at the cutting edge,
Sourcing, selecting and implementing innovation internally and for it’s customers and thereby ensuring business sustainability.

Data & Business Information
Our Data & BI team helps the business focus and stay in control. It efficiently organises the plethora of business data available to it, from a range of sources (inside and outside of the NHS), and makes it easily accessible to the internal business to ensure they are more successful. It uses advanced analytics and business intelligence technologies to organise and analyse the data, providing visibility of business insights to users via dashboards and reports and business-critical KPIs to facilitate the smarter, better-informed decisions.
All of this work is supported by a powerful analytical platform that is deployable to both the NHS environment and increasingly, to third party healthcare customers. Core to this is:
Accelerating business results through insights driven advantage.
Enhancing business outcomes with a modern, data-centric approach.
Supporting our strategic vision with an understanding of current internal operational efficiency, the external/customer business environment and how we match all activity across both domains.
