KFM has marked two major milestones for endoscopy services across South East London, with the opening of a new Endoscopy and Diagnostic Centre (EDC) at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and continued recognition of the highest standards within its decontamination services.

The new Endoscopy and Diagnostic Centre officially opened in June 2026 and has been designed to help meet growing demand for diagnostic and treatment services. The KFM-owned facility includes six treatment rooms, six outpatient consulting rooms, a dedicated decontamination suite and separate male and female recovery areas, alongside dedicated training and classroom facilities for staff.

The development represents a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure and was supported by teams from across KFM. Between March 2024 and March 2026, approximately 4,000 items, worth £1.8 million, were procured to equip the centre, while KFM's Procurement and Logistics teams worked closely with colleagues to coordinate the successful transition into the new facility.

The centre is expected to support quicker diagnosis and treatment for thousands more patients each year, improving access to vital endoscopy procedures used to investigate a range of conditions, including cancer.

Alongside the opening of the new facility, KFM's Endoscopy Decontamination Service at Denmark Hill has achieved an exceptional result in its latest ISO 13485 surveillance audit. The internationally recognised standard assesses quality management systems for medical devices, and auditors found no non-conformances and no opportunities for improvement.

The audit identified a well-established and effectively implemented quality management system, supported by experienced staff, strong operational controls and a culture of continuous improvement. Particular strengths highlighted by auditors included risk management processes, environmental monitoring, supplier oversight, infrastructure management and the end-to-end traceability of endoscopes.
