KFM Highly Commended at the 2025 HCSA Awards for Sustainability and Social Value Excellence
KFM is proud to announce that it has been Highly Commended for the Sustainability and/or Social Value Excellence Award at the 2025 HCSA Awards, recognising our commitment to embedding social value and sustainability throughout our procurement practices.
The awarded project, ‘KFM Procurement with Purpose: Embedding Social Value into Healthcare’, showcases how KFM is redefining procurement as a catalyst for community benefit, digital innovation, and long-term sustainability. As a wholly owned subsidiary of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, every saving and benefit generated through this work is reinvested back into improving patient care.
A central achievement was the delivery of digital skills workshops for local school students, co-designed with supplier partner TTEC Digital (see: KFM and TTEC Digital Inspire Young Minds — KFM) The first workshop supported secondary school students in Brixton to design and build a Microsoft PowerApp, offering hands-on digital experience, career insights, and exposure to real healthcare technology.
Preeya Bailie, Managing Director at KFM, said: “Being Highly Commended for this award is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the commitment, creativity and purpose-led thinking across KFM. Our teams are embedding sustainability and social value into everyday practice, from smarter procurement decisions to digital innovation and meaningful community engagement. This initiative teaches young people skills for future job markets, helping to build confidence and aspiration. I am incredibly proud of the positive impact we are making for patients, our partners and our local communities.”
Following its success, a second workshop was delivered last month to pupils at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Camberwell, where the school shared the following feedback: “The delivery was effortless, engaging, clear, and energising. The students remained fully immersed throughout the entire day. Due to your approach, the learners were not only inspired but were confidently able to develop their apps by the end of the session.”
Speaking about the workshop, Oliver Knowles, TTEC Digital Sales Director said: “I was genuinely inspired by the energy and curiosity Sacred Heart Catholic School students brought to our App in a Day workshop. Giving up their Saturday to dive into Microsoft Power Platform showed real commitment, and their creativity shone through in every activity explored. Their engagement made the session a joy to deliver, and it’s exciting to see their generation stepping so confidently into the world of digital innovation.”
KFM now plans to scale the App in a Day model to more schools across London. We are also exploring the development of a King’s technology learning programme, and a potential Robotics and AI programme, following interest from Sacred Heart School. This includes opportunities through existing supplier partnerships such as E18 / Blue Prism.
Daivd Kayondo, Deputy Head of Procurement at KFM, added: “This recognition reflects the hard work that has gone into reshaping how procurement can deliver real community impact. The workshops we’ve delivered with schools in Brixton and Camberwell show how supplier partnerships can create genuine opportunities for young people. We’re excited to grow this programme and continue demonstrating that procurement can be a powerful driver of education, inclusion and long-term social value.”
This achievement highlights KFM’s people-centred, purpose-driven approach to procurement, ensuring that every contract contributes to healthier communities, a greener NHS, and more equitable opportunities for the next generation.
